Benchmade Knife Company - Folding Knife - 550BKHG Griptilian

My brother gave me this folding knife for my birthday a couple of years ago. Made by the Benchmade Knife Company.

The reference for the knife is  550BKHG Griptilian.

It comes with a user manual as well as a cloth pouch.

When folded, the knife has a large hole for ease of gripping. The safety latch that locks the mechanism in place can be seen on the bottom left of the knife.

On full extension, the knife is approximately 210 mm long. The blade is blacken for effect.

The locking mechanism close-up.

I was told by my brother that knives from this Company are great as the blades retain their sharpness longer and very durable.

There is also a pocket clip attached to the handle.

Luminox - Swiss Made - Penknife

This is a penknife from the Luminox watch company. Not a part of their product line, more of a corporate gift kind of product for them.

Has a number of useful functions. Generally follows the design of the famous Swiss Army Knives.

The unique feature I find on this penknife is the three rubber ribs close to the edge of the knife.

Unbranded Folding Knife

I got this folding knife during an office Christmas party. Unbranded and I suspect made in China.

The blade in 10 cm long and the overall length of the watch is 21 cm. The handles has the US flag and it protected by a hard plastic covering. The covering is fixed to the metal handle by rivets.

At the end of the knife is a hole to tie a rope through.

I usually use this knife to open letters like a letter-opener.

Leatherman Super Tool 300 - A proper tool for the DIYer

The Leatherman Super Tool 300 is an 18 function toolkit which is more tool-like in construction. It is 5 inches in length when folded and is made out of both 420HC and 154CM stainless steel compounds. The manufacturer provides a 25 years guarantee.

The packaging is a simple cardboard box with the brand and logo printed on it. The box has sides painted either in yellow or black which I assumed must be the corporate colours.

The pocket knife/tool set comes with a nice canvas pouch that can be hung from the belt.

The tool looks very mechanical and steam-punk like.

There is also a folding manual that highlights the tools available. A number of models are also presented in the manual.

Just focus on the section on the model in question and it will tell you what types of tools available and their usage.

From a folding-knife perspective, on full extension it goes out to approximately 3.5 inches. Very sharp. For safety, there are locking lugs provided for both sides of the handle.

Here you can see the locking latch on one side of the handle.

The pliers in full extension.

Got this watch in Tokyo, Japan in 2013.

The Victorinox Swisscard Quattro - a pocketful of brilliant bits

The Victorinox Swisscard Quattro comes with 13 features. With the concept of a credit card in mind, it was designed to be kept in the wallet. Like all Victorinox products, it comes with a lifetime warranty.

The fact that it is Swiss made is made very obvious on the packaging. The card is in the typical red colour of Victorinox albeit in a semi-transparent casing. This allow you to see the types of tools available and made it easy to chose the correct tool.

The back of the sleeve that carries the tool list.

The inner sleeve on the left as a short history about Victorinox as well as a picture of the founder. This elaborate packaging was due to the holiday season that was coming up (Christmas). This product is meant as a gift.

Unlike a Victorinox penknife, all the tools that came with this unit are not linked together. As such, users must be weary when using the tools as it is easily misplaced. I am sure replacements are possible but it could be expensive.

Instructions on how to use the screw bit tool.

The tool comes with  a small loophole provided on the bottom right corner of the tool. If needed, you attach keys and such to it - from a credit card design it now can be a keychain.

The back of the tool is devoid of any wording except for the ruler markers on the top edge of the tool. This tool can measure up to 4 inches.

Taking out the tools, the whole tool pack consists of seven items. The blade is approximately 2 inches long.

This is a very useful piece of tool. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

It was purchased in St Andrews, Scotland in December 2015 for UK Sterling 16.

Ceramic Kitchen Knive by iKitch

This is my first ceramic knife. Always wanted one due to the unique material used for the blade. Made under the brand iKitch, it appears to be a Japanese brand by virtue of the kanji writing on the box. However, I cannot find anything on it via Google.

I got this knife for free as part of the few gifts I got when I bought something for the house. As you can see from the packaging, it is set in a nice carbon-black cardboard box with silver letterings on the top.

The box is 32 cm long, 8 cm wide and 3.5 cm tall.

The lid is kept shut with magnets and it flips upwards to reveal the knife. At the back of the cover is some specifications and instructions about the knife.

For protection, there is a plastic sheath with skeleton ribbed sides. The knife is 27.5 cm long with the ceramic blade length of 15.5 cm. That leaves the silicone handle to be 12 cm long.

The watch is extremely sharp and due to the nature of the material used, it retain the sharpness extremely well albeit its brittleness. In the instructions, the knife is only to be used for cutting and not hacking.
